Today we had a special visitor!  Will's mom, Mrs. Shaw came in to share with students how her job as a vet uses knowledge of cells and genetics.  We all learned SO much from her presentation and had a plethora of questions.  I think students have some new great ideas for their InTECC projects which includes diseases and cell abnormalities.

Our first InTECC project covering the Civil War is complete!  Students did an excellent job collaborating in their groups and felt a great sense of pride and accomplishment.  I compiled a few short clips into a movie trailer below of their presentations if you were unable to attend.  The music video and Minecraft battle reenactment were the talk of our class!
I cannot wait to see what ideas groups have for cells and genetics.
Remember to THINK BIG! :)

Field Trip to Lanier High School (CDAT)

Our class was amazed by all the students' work at Lanier High School's CDAT program!  We met with several students and discussed their projects.  Students were able to try out computer programming, music editing, video production, 3D modeling, and robot construction!  There were so many different components to every project, and we even saw Mr. Reilly in his robot get up!

Sam recorded some of his music!
 Enjoying the music production!

Mary enjoyed learning about layering in music to create a "smash up" effect!

 Shooting frisbees from the robot!
Checking out a student's programming project.
 3D animation room

Asking great questions about the students' work!

Some of our class notes after our field trip...we were ALL impressed!

Filming, Rehearsing, and Planning

Groups are in full on work mode!  Students are beginning to feel the time crunch and realize they only have three more working days to finalize projects.  Our second mentor meetings went well!
We are all excited about our field trip Thursday to see the high school students' work in CDAT!

Meeting with Mentors

Today was the first day parent mentors met with their groups!
Students were excited to have more guidance and support with their projects.  They are now being held accountable to their mentors and their work for the next meeting on Monday.
Resources were shared by parents and students and I have some new research to do too!
