VR, Book Clubs, and Indiana Jones

We were very excited the VR cart arrived this week!  Our class had the crazy idea of asking if Mrs. Andrews would purchase a cart for 3rd-5th grade classes to use to go on virtual field trips and our request was granted!  So far we have visited underwater locations, Grand Canyon, China, Ellis Island and a few others.  We can't wait to explore more throughout the year!

We began round two of book clubs this week and students are really enjoying their books!

Dismissal shenanigans!😃

We had a special visitor, Indiana Jones, who spent an hour or so with us Thursday afternoon.  It was his first time out in a classroom with kids without his trainer, and he did great!  We received lots of kisses and he received LOTS of belly and ear rubs!

PBL, Garden Clean Up, and Sharing Ideas in Writing

Groups began contacting experts in the field via phone and email this week.  One group called NASA and another called Grand Canyon National Park!

We have two days this year to help clean up the garden and we ended up being the first class out there.  We learned some interesting things about weeds and mosquitoes as well as problem solving!

We also worked on adding in dialogue to our Lucy stories and used a picture prompt to help spark ideas.
