Butterfly Ceremony and CHAMPS

Students read their child's poem and shared the butterfly they created to honor the memory of their author.  Then students found out the fate of their child and let the butterfly "fly free" if they did not make it; many fates were unknown.

Today Officer Will taught students about the dangers and effects of alcohol in CHAMPS and they participated in a simulation showing how impaired you can become with alcohol in your system.

Creating Our Butterflies and Book Club Meeting

Students carefully read their poem from "I Never Saw Another Butterfly" which contains poems written by children who lived in the Terezin Concentration Camp during the Holocaust.

Hands on Learning: Science Labs and Fraction Exploration

Next week we are beginning our large fraction unit, so students were able to play five different fraction games to begin exploring and noticing things about fractions and how they fit together.

This week we focused on microorganisms for our science labs and students were able to discover how quickly germs spread and grow!  Our petri dishes with agar are growing colorful things already; we can't wait to see what they look like after this weekend!
