Students brainstormed possible driving questions and then sat by the question that was most exciting to them. We talked about why they choose the question and they relocated if they changed their mind about the topic. Once groups were formed, students chose a group leader and began writing their group norms. This is going to be an excellent last project for the year!

Tuskegee Airmen Webinar at the National WWII Museum
Yesterday we took part in a webinar with Tuskegee Airmen Col. McGee and Lt. Col. Hardy at the National WWII Museum in New Orleans. Students were able to type questions they wanted answered and also respond to the reasons why they thought these men were so important to the ending of segregation in the military. Chrissy Gregg was the moderator for this webinar as well as the video conference we had earlier this year touring the museum!

Author Smokey Daniel Visit!
Authors Smokey Daniel and Stephanie Harvey visited our school today and Smokey visited our classroom to confer with students. Addie and Jacob asked him for an autograph, and he wrote them each a personalized note and signed it! They were super excited! Also, I may have asked to take a selfie with Smokey before he left! (Thanks for the inspiration Jacob!)

Video Conference with Holocaust Survivor Albert Garih
One WWII PBL group reached out to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum located in Washington, D.C. in order to interview a Jewish Holocaust survivor. The group was able to share the experience with every fifth grade student and his account of the time during WWII was fascinating! I am so proud of students presenting in a larger scale!
