Civil War: Project Creation

Today was filled with several interviews, phone calls, recording, editing, designing and creating!  Students' projects are really coming along and everyone is looking forward to sharing their final products next Tuesday!  I can't wait to see their final presentations too!

Collaboration Trip to CDAT at LHS

Students were excited to meet with high school students and talk about their projects and how they effectively work together.
 Students sharing about their club involvement and getting kids interested in the physics club: Theory of Everything.
 3DsMax design of LHS CDAT wing by a group of three students.  They designed every detail down to the bricks and tiles and mathematically scaled it all!

Day One of Cubelets: Robots and Sensing

We worked in small groups with one battery, roller, and sense cubelet (mini robot) and observed what happened when we connected them in different ways.  Students were excited  to explore how they worked and made changes based on their observations and teams partnered with one another to build larger robot creations.

Frontloading Civil War: Using Primary Sources


This morning we took a walk on school property to see the gravestones of Elizabeth and John Calaway who were alive during the Civil War.  We have been discussing using primary sources when researching and how much history is right here on our school property!  We were able to make a rubbing of the tombstone with Mrs. Spencer and see where the original White Oak School was built!
