If you've landed here at Mrs. Smith's blog, you may be curious about what type of teacher she is, where she came from, and info on her family. Well, if you have A LOT of time, you can dig through the archives of this blog to see what she's been up to in her classroom for the past few years.
But if you are looking for a condensed version, read below! 😁
I spent the last ten years teaching 3rd, 1st, seven years of 5th and last year teaching 7th grade social studies in Gwinnett County. I attended Kindergarten through 12th in Gwinnett County, so making the move to Forsyth County has been quite a change! We moved right down the road so our drive here lasts a whopping total of one song and now our son can be close to all of his new friends. I am married to the new ITS, Matt Smith, (we've been married eleven years) and our son Lincoln will be in Kindergarten here at Silver City. To say we are all excited to be here is an understatement!
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Pre-K through 8th grade and a Master's Degree in Post-Secondary Education. A few words to describe me as a teacher: flexible, choice, integration, technology, paperless, project based learning, real world application, using experts, coding, life long learner, research, enthusiasm for learning, passionate, celebrates failure, and I'm sure others I left out!
Actions speak louder than words, so if you REALLY want to know what I've been up to with my students the past few years, check out the many, many posts from last year and previous years. I like to go back and read them too to remind me how AWESOME kids are and how we all think differently and can do great things together!
I am looking forward to an excellent year! If you need to contact me, you can use the following:
